One of the hardest things to do is have faith. Saying it is one thing, but believing with your entire heart, with every fiber of your being that what will happen is best is difficult. We live our whole lives with training wheels, with preventive measures, and to leave big life decisions in the hands of God is easy to say but hard to do. I pray that my faith strengthens in the face of the tests God has put in front of me and for all of you as well.

A nice Cheerios advertisement whose only discernible difference from other Cheerios commercials is that it depicts an interracial family was forced to disable its YouTube comments section today after it became inundated with virulent racism.

Helga was just always on point. And I’m sad I didn’t realize that when I was a kid watching Hey Arnold.

OMG i looooooooove Helga. How many other cartoons have a main female character who isn’t the most talented, prettiest, and/or most loved of them all? Her character may have exaggerated certain insecurities that women have to deal with, but her character dealt with them. For instance, there’s an episode where she isn’t invited to an all girl’s party because she’s not girly enough and the boys won’t let her play baseball instead because she is a girl… so she crashes the girls party and handles it in her own way. Or the fact that they have an entire episode called “Helga on the Couch” where she discusses her feelings and why it’s so hard for her to express her feelings (especially for Arnold) — partly because she has been neglected by her family and is afraid that no one will pay attention to her - so instead she looks for negative attention — and partly because she fears rejection from Arnold, who is the only person who has ever given her positive attention…

I could continue writing about why she is my all time favorite cartoon character evvveerrr but no one cares.

Also, I think Arnold and Helga are soulmates, and I wish there was a movie made after the Hey Arnold movie so we can see what Arnold really thinks of Helga (omg I watch the tv show/movie on netflix whenever there is nothing else to watch)

Brown kids dominate the National Spelling Bee every year! And brown girls, I might add, who won the past three years, until Arvind Mahankali broke the streak this year. Over the past 15 years, South Asian kids have won 11 of 15 national spelling championships.

This year they even added a controversial vocabulary test, which many observers said was intended to thin out the brown domination of the competition by penalizing rote spelling. It did seem to thin out East Asians, but it didn’t stop South Asians who continued to dominate.

I don’t like people who don’t like Sansa because she’s such a ‘weak character.’ I haven’t read the books (ok I read like 40% of the first one), and yet I can still the strength in her character. To be so deeply wounded, to have everything you held dear be either taken away from you or shown to be revolting, and still be able to find hope is strength. I think most people in her position would have given up completely. She hasn’t.
